Born and raised in Western New York, I grew up in a family with my parents, three older sisters, and a dog or two for most of my life. We lived in a small country town filled with charm, peace, and safe fun.
Education was always a priority in my family. With multiple family members in the teaching profession and parents who wanted the best for their kids, all four of the Courtine children worked hard and were successful in school. This environment of educational success began planting seeds of a career in my mind. It was during my senior year of high school, while completing a project for my sociology class that I decided to follow in the education footsteps and become a teacher.
In 1997 I moved to Cary, North Carolina to begin my teaching career. After 11 years in a 5th grade classroom and the completion of a Masters Degree, I moved into a specialist role: first a math specialist and then an Instructional Technology Specialist. That is where I currently am professionally.
Personally, I value tremendously my wife Erica and two sons: Jameson and Rhys. They give me the greatest joy, and it is an honor to live life with them. We enjoy all types of activities and events together.
